I have had the famous Two Oceans Marathon on my bucket list for a while. To be exact, I had it on the “when I am fast enough to run an Ultra Marathon” bucket list. Because it is one of two famous South African Ultra Marathons, and the classic distance is 56km. I had thought of doing it in 2018, when my Dad was probably also fit and fast enough to run it.
So when I suddenly got the opportunity to run the Two Oceans Marathon via a “first come first served” give away on adidas runners Germany I immediately said yes. I did not really believe I would get the spot because I thought a lot of other people would also apply.
Are you thinking of escaping the cold and maybe running a nice, warm destination Marathon? Search no more, because there is Tel Aviv Marathon . It always takes place on a Friday end of February. Not only do they have a Marathon, but also a Half Marathon, 10 km and 5 km race. I ran Tel Aviv Marathon in February 2018 as my third Marathon in my 12 Marathon in 12 months project.
Dubai Marathon always takes place in winter when temperatures are bearable, at least for the people living there. On races weekend there is a quite large 10 km race happening, but also the Marathon with less than 3000 participants. The course is quite flat, and it holds the 3rd fastest course record time worldwide.
Since I started running doing a RunDisney event was on my bucket list. So for my 32nd birthday I flew to Orlando to run the Disney World Marathon. The Disney World Marathon Weekend is the biggest event weekend of RunDisney. It is comprised of four runs: 5 km on Thursday, 10 km on Friday, a Half Marathon on Saturday and the full Disney World Marathon on Sunday. If you are slightly crazy you might do the Goofy Challenge, which is the Half and the Full Marathon. Or the Dopey Challenge, which is all 4 races on one weekend.
On September 24th 2017 I ran my first Berlin Marathon. To my big surprise, I made it in under 4 hours, although the race was absolutely not easy. Please find my full race experience here.
