Today marks the T-6 months for World’s Toughest Mudder, my big goal for 2017. My Ultimate Challenge 2017!
In case you have no idea what it is, let me explain:
The World’s Toughest Mudder it is a 24 hour obstacle course race in Lake Las Vegas, where 1000 crazy people try to run a 5 mile course full of wet and muddy obstacles for as often as possible.

Ever since I was a spectator at the 2015 WTM I wanted to do it. I was randomly in the area because I ran the Las Vegas Half Marathon the same weekend. So I gave myself a two year period to prepare and train for my ultimate Challenge 2017.
So why do I want to do it? A lot of people have asked me this and I could not really give an answer. Until now.
I want to push myself to my limits. Physically and mentally. I want to do something I never thought possible, I want to prove myself that I am STRONG.
But it is not only about my ego. It is about something bigger. I’ve heard about this amazing Mudder Community that is out there. The kindness of people, helping strangers over obstacles the whole night. Helping out with food and gear. Sharing laughs and tears.
I want to find soulmates out there in the dessert. To find my mudder family.
And of course I want to meet the celebrities of OCR. Especially the women because they are my role models: Amelia Boone, Deana Blegg, April Dee. I am just a child wanting to meet my heroes. And heroines.
And because a 24hour obstacle race is not crazy enough, I said yes to another event that will make the whole thing even more challenging:
A week before World’s Toughest Mudder I will run the NYC Marathon.
Yes, this is a crazy idea.
And yes, it will be tough.
But it will be absolutely awesome.
So how will I prepare for this?
I don’t know yet, I will try to follow a fast training plan for the Berlin Marathon. I will do more Trail Marathons and Obstacle Races before. Also a tons of strength training.
Who will train with me? I don’t know yet. Right now it looks like destiny wants me to go through this experience in my own.
I will start this Saturday by running Europe’s Toughest Mudder, the smaller 8h version of the event. I am absolutely not prepared, and super scared because of it. But I am also very excited about the event. Finally a glimpse of how World’s Toughest Mudder could be like.
