My World’s Toughest Mudder gear list

When I first signed up for World’s Toughest Mudder I was really confused about what to use for this grueling 24h race (you can read about my experience here). As this race is equally about gear as it is about training (you can check out my post about WTM training here), I decided to publish my World’s Toughest Mudder gear list here on my blog and keep it updated regularly. You can also find some great ressources about the World’s Toughest Mudder equipment on the WTM Community Facebook group. Please bear in mind that a lot of the gear also depends on individual preferences.

Depending on where you are traveling from you might be restricted with luggage. So all the items marked with * on my World’s Toughest Mudder equipment list are the ones I will buy directly in the US.

Another big bonus of the World’s Toughest Mudder coummunity is that somebody generally acts as a shipping depot, and people can ship stuff to their place and pick it up before the race. You can search for that on the Facebook group.

I will gradually switch into more layers as the nights get colder. At around midnight I will try to change into my 5mm winter wetsuit.

Toughest Mudder fuel

I try to take one bottle of water with tailwind with me each lap, drink it and toss it at the first obstacle. Also as the laps get longer you want to bring nutrition out on course, preferably bars/gels that you can eat easily. In the pit I try to keep warm and have hot food and drinks if possible. I try to bring as much variety as possible as last year everything tasted horribly by the end of the race. Who knows what I will be able to eat this year?

I hope this blogpost is helpful when preparing for World’s Toughest Mudder. Let me know in the comments what you think I should add or delete from the list.
