Fundraising

In 2018 I am running 12 Marathons in 12 months to raise money for the SOS Children’s Villages.

The 12 Marathons are:

Why 12 Marathons in 12 Months?

Last year my friend Karsten ran 12 Marathons in 12 months. I was immediately impressed and jealous at the same time. And I was wondering if I could do this as well?

And as I always love a good challenge, I decided to do it.

Why do I want to run for a good cause?

In 2017 I ran the London Marathon and did some fundraising for a small local London charity. I really enjoyed the process because I met so many interesting people and was also able to give back to society. It also makes all that training so much more worth the effort, as the goal is far more meaningful than just aiming for another PB.

So when I decided to run 12 Marathons in 12 months I immediately knew that I want to do it for a good cause.

Why SOS Children’s Villages?

I have chosen the SOS Children’s Villages because it is an internationally recognized NGO network founded in Austria, where I am from.

I have chosen to not fundraise for a particular project, but for their emergency and disaster relief fund. This gives them more room to maneuver and the money arrives where it is most needed.

How can you donate?

You can donate to the following causes (German language only unfortunately, but Google translate can help you out):

If you live in Austria or Germany your donations should be tax-deductible and you will receive a donation confirmation. If you live in a different country and want to make a tax-deductible donation please contact me here.
